Thelma's - Sharrow Vale Road

I've mentioned Thelma's a few times since I began blogging and I think it's about time they had their own special post. Thelma's is a local Deli/Lunch time haunt my work colleagues and I frequent, almost daily, on Sharrow Vale Road in Sheffield. Thelma's has been open for around a year and a bit now and is run by the lovely May and Emily, two sisters who started the business in honour of their Grandmother, you guessed it, Thelma. They provide high quality food - mostly sandwiches, but they also do a soup of the day, a selection of three salads, some sort of quiche/tartlet and a selection of cakes.

I want to make it clear though, I'm not being biased just because I've got to know the girls, the food is genuinely outstanding, reasonably priced and all of the staff are lovely. As well as their delicious food, they also sell cheeses, meats and other deli products AND Emily's designed her own apron range - which I have to say, I will be snapping up soon!

I have tried 10 of the 12 sandwiches on this menu and all of them are fantastic. My favourite is probably the Hallumi, Hummus, Olive Tapenade and Rocket Panini; I tend to go for it on brown and toasted as it really compliments the flavours. Another of my faves is the Salami, Avocado and Mozzarella; amaaazing sandwich. The girls really have got it down to a t when it comes to picking ingredients that really go together. Good work girls!

Here's a few snaps of their lovely little shop:

Cold Sandwiches

Hot Sandwiches

Cake Selection, Salads, Deli Products

Deli Produce

Deli Fridge

Roasted Mediterranean Vegetable, Pesto and Mozzarella on brown bread, toasted

Feta, Pinenut and Caramelised Onion

Butternut Squash and Spiced Chickpea and Panzanella (Italian Bread Salad)

Their food is lovely, the atmosphere is ideal and it's such an excellent example of the local businesses in Sheffield that provide brilliant quality products and service. Seriously, head to Thelma's, I promise you that you will not regret it!

Visit their website for a full menu, follow them on Twitter or add the Thelma's girls on Facebook (daily updates of the specials here too - tempting!).
