Friday Feeling

The sun is shining, Sheffield and Nottingham alike look beautiful in the summer and I'm in a brilliant mood. It's funny how a little good weather can brighten everybody's moods - you can see everybody smiling!

This summer really is shaping up to be so much fun and I wasn't sure I'd be able to plan much before I jet off in September but, it's better than I could have imagined. This is what lead to this post; I think sometimes, we are more inclined to focus on the negatives in life and the positives tend to take a back seat. It doesn't hurt to appreciate the good things.

So here's why I've smiling this week.

1. THE SUNSHINE - finally, a bit of nice weather. Nothing is better than being able to store away our winter clothes and throw on a pair of shorts, a summery top and flipflops! Despite being at work all day, it's still be lovely and warm in the evenings so I've been able to embrace being able to eat dinner outside, walks out at lunchtime and I've certainly made the most of the weekends. Last weekend I spent time with my family and partook in Money Supermarket's Charcoal Challenge. If you didn't get chance to read it, have a look.

2. AMSTERDAM - Yep, that's right...I'm totally spoilt. D's planning to take me to Amsterdam in August. Ridiculously excited as I've never been before and the weather tends to be brilliant there during the summer months. I also have an old school friend living over there at the moment so it'll be nice to have a catch up and for her to show us the sights.

3. BEACONS FESTIVAL - Again, spoilt. I didn't think I'd be able to go to a festival this summer but there's a huge chance I'm going to Beacons in North Yorkshire. Not only are there several DJs/acts on that I'd love to see, but they also have a load of other cool things to do as part of the Arts & Culture goings on. Check it out, there are still a few tickets left and it should be a blast!

4. TRAMLINES FESTIVAL - It's next weekend woohoo. Sheffield hosts Tramlines every year and it's always a lot of fun. Everybody flocks to the city centre to see live acts and have a jolly good time. I have a feeling this year will be the best year yet, should the weather hold out of course! I can't wait!

5. TRAVELLING IS IN EIGHT WEEKS AND FIVE DAYS!!! It's coming around so quickly and I feel pretty unprepared. I've almost had all of my jabs, I've done a bit of research (which you can find here) and I've bought my rucksack...but that's about it. I still need some form of 'sensible' (which naturally means, horrendous) footwear, I need to sort out my Visa for Australia, malaria tablets and then there's all the silly things that seem trivial but are actually quite important. Maybe I should stop smiling and start planning!

6. BIRTHDAYS - July is always a busy month for birthdays. And I LOVE birthdays...even when they aren't my own. I love spending days with friends and family celebrating their birthdays; everybody is happy, it's nice to spoil those important people in our lives and give them a day to be selfish!

7. THIS WEEKEND - I love weekends, even more now I'm working because it's two days I can jam pack full of friends, family and fun. This weekend is one of many good weekends to come. Every year when I was younger, my Grandad used to take me strawberry picking. Now he's older he doesn't really have it in him to take me, so I'm going with my Mum. I absolutely love going as it reminds me of being a little girl and sneakily eating the strawberries as I picked them. On Sunday I'm heading over to Sheffield to spend some time in the sun with my friends. Lots of fun yaaay!

8. MY DAD'S BIRTHDAY SURPRISE - I can't disclose what it is yet as I'm not sure if he actively reads or not but it's going to be good. It's outdoorsy and adrenalin fueled!

9. FITNESS - I'm pleased to say, I've finally got back my motivation to work out. This might seem like a silly reason to be smiling but as a woman, we have far too much pressure on us to feel the need to look good. I'm fortunate that I eat pretty well anyway (other than the odd sweet treat, but we all need a treat every now and then day...) so now I've got that motivation back, I'll be able to get my body to something I'm happy with.

10. IT'S A SECRET - I don't want to be overly personal on here. My Yes Woman post is about as personal as I'll get...but at the moment, I'm very happy. And it's a nice feeling. It's been a really unsettling year for me and I am back on track, I have so much to look forward to and I'm excited. I'm happy and I'm excited.

I love writing these kinda posts. It's nice for me to be able to reflect on the positives of the week...after all, smiling is infectious.

Happy Friday and have a brilliant weekend!

N xo
