New Years Eve Down Under

What better way to see in the new year than with two of your closest friends and a new lovely friend in Sydney by the Harbour Bridge?

In the daytime, Nikki and I spontaneously hopped on a tourist sightseeing bus to see a little more of the city.

Look out for these, they have red bus stops and you can hop and off at around 35 stops all across the city, even going as far as a Bondi tour if you swap buses at Central Station.

For $40 you can get a 24 hour bus pass which is pretty good considering how far things are walking distance. Well worth it!

We had a little sit on the bus for a while then hopped off at The Rocks, a trendy harbourside area and the first place explorers stopped when Australia was founded.

We were pretty giddy (me more so, I've wanted to see the Sydney Harbour since I was 5!) We drove by the bridge on the bus and were keen to hop off...

We then had a walk down towards the Opera House to get a better view...

I was made up but wished my Mum could have been there to see it with me, she would love it!! Oh and that's another thing, I've had the best news - my parents are coming to visits me for my birthday for a few weeks! I'm so excited!

After playing tourist for a while, our Uni friend Kat, who has also been living in Sydney, came to meet us for a few drinks.

There are that many people here that we went to university with it feels like beig in a very hot Sheffield!

After spending some time with Kat, we ventured back home (which is currently our apartment in Surry Hills), grabbed a bottle of champers, got ready and headed down to the Harbour to see the world renowned fireworks!

Seeing in the New Year here made me quite overwhelmed. I told you in my last post about my year and I can't believe how far I've come - I would never have guessed I would be stood in Sydney watching the fireworks. I feel so lucky!

I hope you all had a fabulous new year!

Oh, and here's what we were part of (pictures quite obviously not belonging to me!)

It blows my mind!
