Monthly Goals: September

So, how many people have said today (in person, tweeted, facebook'd etc) 'I can't believe it's September' or 'how quickly is this year going?' or 'oh my god it'll soon be Christmas' - well, yes, all of those statements are VERY true. With that in mind, I figured, the months seem to pass by so quickly and it's easier to lose track or lose sight of the smaller achievements; only the big ones or big changes are the more memorable - SO, why not start a new 'feature', of sorts, and make some monthly goals.

I'm still in the middle of 'the big move' from North to South (okay, so I'm moving from Nottingham to Northampton - all the Midlands - but still, it seems like a North/South divide!). The decorating has commenced, the room is being boxed, the new duvet set has been purchased (and is beautiful might I add, both Tesco and John Lewis have some lovely stuff in at the moment!) All this moving malarkey has left me kinda feeling like I don't know whether I'm coming or going, I'm up and down the M1 more than I am laid in bed (or so it feels). I feel like I need some goals, some aims or some kind of mental focus - so here we go, welcome to September's Monthly Goals.

1. Yoga - FAILED - I have fallen in lust with yoga over the past few months BUT my current lack of routine has left me practicing much less than I would of hoped SO I want to aim for at least 3 times per week.

2. Blog organisation - FAILED - since travelling and returning home, my blog posts have really slacked. Before leaving I was posting daily but the travelling lifestyle didn't always account for that and since returning home, the adjustment hasn't always been plain sailing. I want to get back into the swing of things, doing what I love - writing! I'm hoping for at least 4-5 blog posts per week.

3. Life organisation - DONE - I need my room at my parents house sorted, tidied and organised as well as my new living space. Be it with boxes/trays within drawers/labels...I need to know where things are!

4. eBay clear out - ALMOST DONE - going travelling made me realise just how insignificant or unnecessary some things I own are. I survived with a backpack for the most part of my trip (until I went crazy in Sydney/Melbourne and bought loads of clothes. I need to make sure by the end of the month that I've flogged as much of the cleared out items as possible and taken the rest to the charity shop.

5. Travel posts - WRITTEN UP BUT NEED PHOTOS ADDING - I still have a million and one blog posts to sort out from my trip - you would be surprised how hard it is to blog about 9 months worth of travelling. Initially when I got back, I couldn't even face thinking about it because it made me wonder why I had returned to England for the foreseeable future (which sounds terrible because I love being back with my family and friends but the adjustment is really hard!). I want to make sure I've posted all of my East Coast trip, my favourite places to visit in Australia and New Zealand as well as a few of the fab places I got to eat.

6. Walking - DONE - I'm not talking hiking or anything massively strenuous but it is no secret that I love the countryside and that kind of lifestyle. I don't get out into the fresh air quite as much as I like anymore so I want to aim to go out for a walk (even if it's around Sywell Park everytime) once a week. It's nice to have that little bit of peace and time to yourself.

7. Forehead Skincare - FAILED - just lately I've had these little bumps on my forehead - they aren't spots and they aren't even noticeable but they're really bugging me. I use good quality makeup, cleanse and moisturise daily, as well as exfoliate. Does anybody else have this problem? If so, please shed some light on how this can be solved please?! Hopefully by the end of the month I will have sorted this out.

8. Cooking - FAILED - SO many recipes I want to try at the moment but not enough hours in a day! This month I want to make and blog about 3 per week and 1 bake per week.

9. Sleep - ALMOST DONE - I am constantly tired, like all the time, it's ridiculous. I want to try and get at least 8 hours of sleep every night to see if it makes a difference. I have recently downloaded the Sleep Cycle app, that I read about over on Rosie's blog a while back, which I'm finding really useful.

10. Photographs - DONE - I'm really unhappy with the quality of the photographs I use for blogging. I love my little Lumix camera but I feel the images aren't sharp enough and I quite often forget to take it with me so I'm left with my trusty iPhone snaps, although fairly good quality, just don't cut it sometimes! I know improving photography skills, not necessarily just through the type of camera owned, isn't something that can be improved upon overnight, or even in the space of a month but I want to read up about it a little more and get some tips to improve. I know the girls over on A Beautiful Mess have all spoken about how to improve your photographs, as well as several other bloggers recently.

Wish me luck and I shall report back in October! And if you've got any monthly goals, I would love to hear about them.

  1. I love yoga and pilates so much, I need to make some more time for them too because I always feel better when they're a part of my regular routine! xx
