DOING: 21 Day Time Makeover

For 2015 I really want to focus on the goals I have set myself and the mini bucket list I hope to have everything ticked off. I especially want to continue taking time out for myself, seeing friends and family and doing all of the things I love.

The last few months have been a whirlwind - settling into a new job, settling into a new town, a new house. Although I've enjoyed getting back into the swing of things, at times, it's felt really bloody overwhelming. I often have a browse on Self Magazine's website and stumbled across their 21 Day Time Makeover.

I had a quick read of the page and saw there was a quiz to determine what kind of person you are when it comes to time.

The Quiz gave me my result: Time Magician:
Working to live (rather than living to work) is your motto, but attempts to structure your life are mostly haphazard. You frequently feel overwhelmed, so you focus on the most pressing things--and magically, they almost always get done. You make time for yourself, but it can be hard to fully enjoy because you haven't left any space to handle the unexpected when it comes along.

So true! I mean, yes it's a generalisation for quiz-takers but it's true. I'm overwhelmed 70%  and I get things done that need doing but if something new crops up it throws me!

With the 21 Day Time Makeover you spend three weeks monitorinf your time, sorting out a routine and making sure you have space for the things you want to do.

Week 1:
Determine where your time is going.

Week 2:
Learn how to build a routine and manage your energy.

Week 3
Make the space for what really matters to you, regardless of what this is - it's up to you. 

As I think this is an old idea on their site, I couldn't access the daily tools and tips for time management so I figured, I could use the general ideas of each week, have a little thing and blog about it.

I've been saying for such a long time now that I want to figure out how to manage my time better - work wise AND free time - so I'm going to give this a whirl starting from Monday.

So, week 1 - determine where my time is going. I'm going to monitor how I spend my time each day, including time spent on the computer (work related, social media related and blogging), how long I'm at the gym, how long I spent reading, watching TV..all those daily things that amount to a whole week.

Teamed with my monthly goals, this could be a good way of making the most of my days, weeks, months and feel less like time is flying away from me.

Here goes, 21 days of watching how my time is spent, building a routine around these things and making sure I'm doing exactly what I want to be doing or building towards. Wish me luck!
