Back in February, on Valentines Day actually, I found myself in Milan on a work trip. Now, being in Italy on Valentines Day as a then-singleton wasn't something I was feeling very excited about. I was there with my ex-colleague and one of my companies members (check out the ever fabulous Nicola Sexton) and we decided to embark on a romantic meal for three single gals, a mojito each in hand.
Tucked away along Corso Como is the famous 10 Corso Como, with its quiet courtyard behind beautiful gardens filled with thriving plants and seasonal flowers - team that with masses of twinkling fairy lights and you've got yourself a little slice of romantic heaven.
As well as a restaurant, 10 Corso Como also showcases many designer brands, both international and Italian and really does have a little bit of everything.
We were seated at the table - thankfully not surrounded by couples - but those that were around us were educated enough to know that PDA's next to a table of 3 obviously single ladies would not be appropriate.
Next, the menu...the table feel into silence as our rumbling tummies took charge...
We ordered a mojito each to start and a few nibbles to get us started...
Beautiful Italian appetisers...
To start, I ordered avocado dressed in extra virgin olive oil...
Scallops, veggies and a mustard dressing...
And the most delicious ginger sorbet for dessert - it made your eyes water but cleansed your pallet all at the same time...
Nicola opted for a traditional tiramisu...
It was a lovely atmosphere - actually much quieter than we anticipated - but still nice all the same. The food was good, but only good. I felt that the starter could have had more seasoning, the scallops were slightly undercooked and the ginger sorbet had a little too much kick, but it was manageable.
The others were of the same option - a good meal, but not great.
I would definitely venture back though as I feel that, because of Valentines Day, it wasn't living up to its usual reputation.
I do need to say though, the Italian meats, mozzarella etc were out of this world. 3 course of that next time please!
